Overview

We are seeking a part-qualified Civil Engineer to join our progressive, award-winning Civil and Structural Engineering team in our Leeds office as part of our 2026 Industrial Placement Programme. This is a fantastic opportunity for students studying an Engineering degree with a passion for the built environment to work alongside and learn from a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team focused on sustainability, technical excellence, and shaping construction across the UK.

Your Role

  • Contribute to project work at concept and scheme design stages, including modelling, detailed design, specification, and drawing.
  • Prepare reports and provide advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
  • Undertake STEM engagement activities.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships and people skills.
  • Manage your workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Arrange and attend meetings, take minutes, and distribute actions.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over experience. You will be part-way through a relevant degree (BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons)). We welcome applications from candidates who are:

  • An Adapter – Calm in new and changing situations, able to switch comfortably between a variety of dynamic tasks.
  • A Perseverer – Composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • A Collaborator – Effective working with different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver – Ready to share insights based on observation, unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Working Pattern

Placement students are asked to attend the office a minimum of 4 days per week to ensure the appropriate level of support and development.

What We Can Offer You

  • A competitive salary.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment, Early Careers peer group, and wider Employee Resource Group network (see more on our ERGs).
