What does this team do?

As an IT Auditor, you will play a critical role in assessing the effectiveness of technology systems used for financial reporting and key performance indicators. You will delve into the intricacies of business operations, identifying and evaluating the risks associated with technology usage. You will also develop a deep understanding of auditing cybersecurity processes and the application of emerging technologies like AI and robotic process automation.

This role provides invaluable exposure to the inner workings of high-performing businesses, from FTSE 100 giants to smaller entities. You will gain insights into how technology and digital processes drive business success, their alignment with broader strategic goals, and how risks are managed and controlled. What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

This programme is for university students who are doing well academically and want to test their skills in the real world.

You need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any discipline. You must also be in the penultimate year of your course.

If you’re fascinated by business and can’t wait to get stuck into complex projects that make a difference, you’ll fit right in.

What kind of work will I do?

This four-week placement puts you at the heart of our business, surrounded by experts who can help you flourish. You’ll do real work from day one, using what you’ve learnt at university to help solve complex problems. As part of the IT Audit team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Client Engagement: Collaborating directly with clients to understand their business operations, processes, and technology-related controls, documenting your findings using our state-of-the-art auditing tools.

  • Stakeholder management: Working in teams and building relationships both within the IT specialist team as well as financial audit and beyond.

  • Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating risks associated with clients' use of technology.

  • Control Testing: Designing and executing tests to assess the effectiveness of controls, ensuring their implementation and ongoing effectiveness.

  • Reporting: Communicating your findings clearly and concisely through presentations and reports.

  • Innovation: Contributing to the continuous improvement of our audit processes, enhancing efficiency and providing greater insights to our clients.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We value both in-person collaboration and the flexibility that allows for a healthy work-life balance. We operate a hybrid work model, combining office and remote work arrangements. While client-facing roles may require on-site visits, your meetings will be a blend of virtual and in-person interactions. Your initial induction and final assessment will be conducted in person, providing valuable networking and relationship-building opportunities.
