General Summary
We are offering 6-month research internships for outstanding PhD students to explore breakthrough ideas at the intersection of brain-inspired computing and modern Deep neural network. As an intern, you will collaborate with our world-class team of researchers and engineers, developing novel algorithms and systems and contributing to impactful publications. You’ll gain access to cutting-edge infrastructure and be immersed in a multidisciplinary environment.
Focus Research Areas
- Brain-Inspired Machine Learning Algorithms
- Development of neuromorphic approaches that draw from neuroscience to enable adaptive, efficient, and robust learning systems.
- Exploration of biologically plausible learning dynamics for continual learning, sparse coding and low power machine learning implementation.
- State Space Models (SSM) and Alternatives to LLMs
- Researching structured and interpretable SSM-based architectures as scalable alternatives to Transformers in sequence modeling.
- Hybrid frameworks combining SSMs with large language models (LLMs) to improve computational efficiency, memory utilization, and inference latency.
- Low-Power Spiking Neural Network (SNN) Architectures for Edge Devices
- Designing compact and energy-efficient SNNs suitable for neuromorphic hardware.
- Investigating training methods and encoding schemes to support on-device learning and ultra-low-power inference.
What You’ll Do
- Prototype and evaluate new machine learning architectures or algorithms.
- Contribute to publications at top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML).
- Work closely with mentors on applied and theoretical research problems.
- Help translate research insights into future Qualcomm technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Machine Learning, Neuroscience, Brain-Inspired Computing, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong publication record or demonstrable research impact.
- Experience with Python, Matlab and large-scale experimental workflows.
- Background in neuromorphic computing, SNNs, or alternative sequence modeling frameworks is highly desirable.
