Who We Are?

Frazer-Nash are an engineering, systems and technology consultancy. Through our meaningful innovations, our experts support organisations make lives safe, secure, sustainable and affordable.

In a nutshell, engineering consultancy is all about providing advice to positively impact our clients’ projects and businesses and the wider world around us.

Why Frazer-Nash?

With the transition to net zero and the drive towards a more sustainable and more equitable society, the world is facing many challenges. Working with our clients, we are finding engineering and technology solutions and getting a kick out of it as we do!

As a graduate, you’ll benefit from the opportunities, experiences and work diversity of an internationally recognised company but with the unique feature of a professional development plan tailored to your needs and aspirations. Your tailored plan will be supported by your Line Manager, your team around you and a specially assigned mentor who will accompany you on your journey towards chartership and beyond.

Community and culture are particularly important to us, and you will join a friendly and open team with a wealth of experiences, from those who may be a year or two ahead of you in their careers to our world class principal consultants with their decades of know-how and experience to share. Given the multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of our work you will be supporting not just your immediate teams, but also in a range of other fields – whether it’s engineering, digital or human sciences, we're an interesting bunch.

The Team:

Joining our Materials Performance team, you’ll use your skills to understand how the science and engineering of materials affects the strength, degradation and design choices of mechanical components, systems and facilities.

Our projects span the entire lifecycle, from understanding novel concepts, the safe ongoing operation of equipment, to life extension, and, ultimately, decommissioning at end-of-life.

The Role:

You’ll apply your foundational materials knowledge to address our client's needs and deliver impactful solutions. Your expertise will shape the impact of our work, contributing to projects that matter – such as renewable energy generation, new fusion energy generating technologies and future transport solutions.

You’ll ensure the choices of materials we make during the design phase are safe now and will remain so through to end-of-life. You’ll be working on tasks like:

  • Developing new material models to better predict creep life of blades in gas turbines.
  • Establishing the causes and effects of material degradation in nuclear reactors
  • Identifying new materials for everything from aerospace to water utilities.

From time to time, there will be the opportunity to support our clients on site, elsewhere in the UK or perhaps even abroad. Beyond technical projects, you’ll also develop new tools and techniques, build client relationships, work on commercial proposals and share your work at international conferences.

You’ll take ownership of your work from day one, collaborating with a client-facing project delivery team. As you gain experience, you’ll take on responsibility for your own projects, which will grow in size and complexity as you progress. With time, you’ll work towards senior project governance roles, where you’ll embody our core values and build hight trust with clients and colleagues.

We’re looking for people who can become:

As a consultancy organisation, we are looking for highly motivated, innovative, organised and inquisitive people, who would like to solve complex problems.

  • A problem solver: with the ability to critically question what you see, to solve problems that build on your technical understanding, and show initiative and ownership for your ideas and work.
  • A communicator: with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external project stakeholders through various media (e.g. reports, presentations and meetings) to deliver impactful advice on budget and on time.
  • A collaborator: with the ability to work with supervision and with others with different technical backgrounds.
  • A self-starter: with the ability and desire to take ownership of the tasks ahead of you and deliver them to the client, project or team to create an impact.

You will need to have obtained a 2:1 Degree or higher (or equivalent/experience) in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or a very closely related discipline.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and will be required to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.

Our Recruitment Process:

  • Step 1: Application - CV submission
  • Step 2: Measure Potential - Arctic Shores’ task-based assessment. You will be asked to complete some exciting, engaging tasks which will enable us to get to know you better! In return, you’ll receive a personalised feedback report.
  • Step 3: Video Interview - Situation based & technical questions that are related to the important criteria needed to be successful in the role.
  • Step 4: Explore Interview - This includes the opportunity to learn about what we do and find out about what a career at Frazer-Nash has to offer. You will be asked to complete an interview and presentation.
