The Mechanical Engineering Placement Student will work in the Engineering team enhancing Andor’s innovative scientific product portfolio and providing technical support. The role extends to mechanical design and development of scientific cameras and high-end opto-mechanical mechanisms, engineering change management within a production environment, bill of material management, support for customer queries, and production technical support.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract starting in September 2026 and will be based full-time onsite at OI Andor, Springvale Business Park, Belfast.
Qualifications Required
- Successfully completed the 2nd year of a BEng honours degree (IMechE accredited) in Mechanical Engineering or similar by summer 2026.
- Competence in 3D CAD design: modeling & assembly in SOLIDWORKS (or Solid Edge, Inventor, Creo).
- Competence in producing technical drawings.
- Available to start placement in September 2026.
- Hungry to learn and innovate.
- Excellent team player and communicator.
- Eager to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.
