We will hold online interviews between 20 April 2026 and 08 May 2026. We are excited to recruit four interns for our NC-UK Internship programme! You can choose from four of our NC-UK research projects (yes, you can apply for more than one!). Through this programme, you'll delve deep into the scientific research sector, gaining invaluable insights and skills that will shape your academic, professional, and personal growth.
Our Ethos
Our science makes a real difference, enabling people and the environment to prosper and enriching society. We are custodians of a wealth of environmental data, collected by UKCEH and its predecessors over more than 60 years. If you are passionate about hydrology and environmental science, the NC-UK Intern Programme is an ideal opportunity to gain hands-on experience and collaborate with our team of NC-UK scientists.
The Projects
Project 1: Uncovering and minimizing barriers to digital research infrastructure in environmental science (Lancaster).
Project 2: Environmental data visualization project (Lancaster).
Project 3: Hydrogeochemical Sampling and Data Investigation at UKCEH's Plynlimon Research Catchments (Bangor).
Project 4: Fine-tuning a state-of-the-art geospatial foundation model for UK land cover classification (Lancaster).

We need three things from you:
- A letter of support from your supervisor, tutor, director of studies, or equivalent, confirming their approval for you to undertake the proposed summer internship.
- Upload a covering letter outlining your motivation for joining the programme and specifying the project(s) you're interested in, along with reasons for your choice.
- A brief CV detailing your educational background, professional experience, and any publications you may have.
