Orange Business Legal Internship (Part-time)
Internship
Orange Business is the Orange Group division dedicated to businesses and organizations. Our unique history as a telco operator and now an IT services company enables us to support the sustainable digital transformation of enterprise businesses worldwide.
The experience and diversity of our 30,000 employees, experts in B2B challenges around the world, are our greatest assets.
We defend an ethical, responsible and inclusive vision of digital technology, while helping businesses reimagine their services. This is how we create a positive impact for our customers, our employees and the planet.
Orange Business opportunity
Orange Business has a substantial global in-house legal, regulatory and compliance department to support the business, including a team located in the UK. Orange Business will provide up to two UK-based interns with an exciting opportunity to gain high-quality legal work experience and daily exposure to broader business skills in this fast-paced department.
What we can offer
- Your internship will be supervised by the Head of Legal for Middle East and Africa (based in the UK), giving you work experience and training from legal counsels based in the UK, as well as across the Middle East, Africa and Europe
- You will learn alongside other UK-based legal interns – you will be expected to share work experience with these interns as a team, supporting each other
- We can offer you hands-on corporate and commercial law experience and training. You will, as a minimum:
- learn about and assist with legal issues that an international telecommunications/ IT service provider faces on a day-to-day basis
- assist in the reviewing and drafting of commercial contracts and corporate secretarial documents
- help with contract interpretation and matters relating to data protection and company law
- learn about, assist in the development of, and use, large language model (LLM) and artificial intelligence (AI) in-house tools
- have the opportunity to join client meetings and calls, conduct research and practice legal drafting.
We do not have any follow-on opportunities for our legal interns within Orange Group. Our aim is therefore to give you as much learning and wide-ranging experience as we can, to enable you to progress in the profession. Many of our interns have gone on to qualify as solicitors, either by obtaining a training contract or by using the internship as qualifying work experience for SQE.
Duration and expenses
Each internship will be for a 3-month probationary period, extending for up to 12 months, in our Middle East and Africa legal team and based in the UK (we have an adaptable hybrid working pattern – you will be able to work remotely). You will be provided with a company laptop.
The internship is intended to be part time, for up to 18.75 hours per week, to accommodate candidates undertaking SQE courses or similar commitments. You will be entitled to 25 days leave, pro rata, as well as the England public holidays.
The internship is paid at £12.30 per hour (up to £1,000 a calendar month).
