Role description
We are looking for a talented and motivated intern to join our team developing physical layer (PHY) software for our 4G and 5G products. The position is a 12-month internship at our office in the centre of Bristol, where you will be working alongside a team of approximately 50 people, part of a larger (500+) international R&D team motivated by building the future of telecoms.

What you'll do:
- You will be involved in the development, optimization, integration, and validation of real-time PHY software and wireless algorithms on the latest Intel / AMD / ARM CPUs.
- Integrate and test physical layer features on servers within lab and AWS cloud environments.
- Create and improve test and debug tools that make up part of our software release packages.
- Use mobile phones (Android), emulators and other RF equipment.
What you'll gain:
- Hands-on experience of developing real-time embedded C/C++ software in the Linux environment, using docker containers and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of modern CPU instruction sets and SIMD programming.
- Experience of working in a modern software development environment (git, JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins, etc).
- An understanding of wireless algorithms and digital signal processing concepts.
- Experience of working in multi-national Agile teams, familiarity with modern Scrum and SAFe ways of thinking and working.
What you must have:
- Strong C and/or C++ programming skills (assessed at technical interview).
- Experience of script language (ideally Python).
- Exposure to digital signal processing or wireless software algorithms - advantage.
During your internship you'll get:
- 25 days of annual leave a year (pro-rata) and an extra day off in the month of your birthday.
