We are looking for an enthusiastic Distribution Business Unit Finance Placement Student to join our team specializing in Finance for our Distribution Business Segment in UK, Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer 2027

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support Accounts Payable activities by processing invoices, resolving supplier queries, and ensuring payments are made accurately and on time.

  • Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations, reporting, and investigation of outstanding balances to support accurate financial results.

  • Analyse financial data and identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to resolve issues, maintain strong working relationships, and support business objectives.

  • Maintain compliance with financial controls and company policies by ensuring transactions are appropriately documented, approved, and recorded.

  • Assists with financial analysis interpreting financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities, and risks to provide insight to stakeholders regarding financial impact to drive business improvement.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Must be a university degree student with an interest in Accounting and Finance; an awareness of Microsoft tools such as Excel and Outlook

  • The ability to actively learn through experimentation, using both successes and failures as opportunities to grow and tackle new problems effectively.

  • Strong collaboration skills to develop partnerships with stakeholders, drive performance aligned with organizational goals, and provide guidance to support decision-making processes.

  • Proficiency in leveraging internal control frameworks, assessing internal controls, and developing remediation plans to mitigate financial reporting risks and adapt to changing business needs.
