We are looking for an enthusiastic Engineering Placement Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Turbocharger business segment in Huddersfield, United Kingdom.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with global stakeholders to support the continued development of both new and existing Cummins products.

  • Build strong analytical and problem-solving skills by contributing to the design, testing, and evaluation of key components.

  • Work closely with others by raising test requests, joining team meetings, and presenting your findings during technical reviews, contributing to collaborative sessions focused on improving components and workflows.

  • Support the concept design and testing of next-generation turbo technologies, working within an innovative and fast-paced team at the forefront of turbocharger development.

  • Deepen your technical knowledge by engaging directly in strip-downs, inspections, and failure analysis of returned field units or completed test parts.

  • Contribute to impactful research and development projects, including materials research, testing technique innovations, and customer issue resolution.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • To be working towards a STEM degree — we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds.

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in team settings, ideally with experience contributing to or leading a group project.

  • A strong desire to learn and grow, with a foundational understanding of scientific or engineering principles.

  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

CLOSING DATE: Friday, 13th of November.
