Placement
•£25,000 - £30,000
This is a great opportunity to be in a new part of our business within the Burnaston Refurb & Customisation centre (BRC). The BRC work both with internal team members and external partners on projects within the vehicle lifecycle, including accessory fitments, customisation & conversions, servicing, repair and remarketing of used vehicles. Our latest project is looking at how to recycle end of life vehicles back into new vehicles.
You will join a great group of individuals that make up a successful team. We have ambitious plans to grow the department significantly over the next few years, which includes winning new business and increasing the size of the team.
Your Time Here:
The Toyota Industrial Placement programme will stretch your problem-solving skills and introduce you to people at all levels, all over the business. It is designed to help you develop your professional and personal capabilities prior to your final year at university and give an opportunity to gain experience as an industry professional. It's a challenging scheme where you’ll receive plenty of support from your mentor, managers, and colleagues.
BRC is a rapidly evolving department and there are many areas and projects which you could be involved in/exposed to, as new projects are added to the portfolio.
Working as a production planner in BRC you will be responsible for supporting the planning and monitoring the workflow through the New/Used Vehicle Refurbishment and Customisation Centre. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure production schedules are adhered to and customer orders are fulfilled on time.
This role needs you to have a strong stakeholder focus to ensure deadlines are met and will require excellent communication skills to be used with all levels of the business, both internally and externally. You will be able to manipulate and analyse data effectively – looking for patterns trends and relationships and be able to present this information back to inform decision making. You will be involved in managing the flow of materials and inventory control to minimise production delays.
We will give you the autonomy to study and propose new processes to improve the overall production performance in Used Vehicle Repair.
Potential projects could include:
- Implementation of digital production status screens on the shop floor
- Delayed vehicle problem solving – how to improve performance.
- How to prioritise vehicles that are selling well in the market
What we look for:
Alongside having a consistently excellent academic record, with a minimum 2:1 predicted degree result, we are looking for people who eagerly want to learn from others and are motivated to take on new challenges with a positive mindset. We believe that there's always a better way, therefore if you share our values and thrive on analysing problems from different angles to develop solutions, you could go a long way with us. Similarly, taking a practical approach to your work is important – you will need to be as comfortable on the shop floor as you are in the office, conducting "go-look-see” activities to visualise problems and logically apply countermeasures with supporting data. BRC is a fast-paced environment where teamworking matters, therefore good interpersonal skills and effective communication are essential to ensure collaboration across projects. You’ll need great organisational skills and be competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Applications from all degree disciplines are welcome to ensure we create a diverse workforce.
