Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

Our team of Electrical Engineers apply their specialist skills to infrastructure projects across the UK and worldwide. We work with clients from a wide range of industries including but not limited to:

  • Electricity network owners such as National Grid, Scottish and Southern Energy Networks

  • Energy developers – Offshore and onshore wind, HVDC interconnectors, hydro, solar PV, hydrogen, BESS, waste-to-energy

  • Industrial Clients – Data centres, Industrial/Commercial parks

  • Energy Investors – Seeking to understand the impact of technical risks on a potential investment

We are driven by producing technically excellent, innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients.

The Opportunity

For this 6–12-week Summer Internship, we are seeking enthusiastic early career professionals with an interest in power systems analysis and high voltage electrical design to work with us over the summer. This will give you the opportunity to be at the heart of the energy transition, working on power system analysis, design and research that will help to deliver a more secure, sustainable and resilient electricity network in the face of increasing complexity.

Under the mentorship of our senior engineers, you will have the opportunity to work on several different projects, some of which may be external client-facing and some of which may be internal research and development projects. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our projects and delivery teams, you may work alongside a wide range of experts. The role will enable you to deepen not only technical skills but also communication and management skills.

You'll join an unrivalled, inclusive community of experts, where everyone is encouraged to develop their career path and skillset, working with team members to deliver an effective and professional service to our clients.
