Looking to start your Tax career in Summer 2025? Do you have a love of numbers, analytics and problem solving? Do you love building relationships?

Whether you have just completed your A Levels, your degree or just had some time out – our pathway that can help you work towards being a qualified accountant!

Our Specialist Venture Capital and Share Incentives team is looking for new joiners in Edinburgh or Glasgow to join our growing Scottish Base.

The start date for this role will be late Apri 2025.

About you

Here at Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in, continuously strive to keep learning – whether they are a trainee or a Partner – and be brave, willing to step out of their comfort zone and tackle new challenges. And above all of that, be nice!

Studying for a professional qualification and working is not an easy pathway. You will need to be committed and have amazing project management skills to balance studies and the day job. You need to be curious about companies and see our work as part of their success.

If you are a graduate our minimum requirement would be a completed degree and having gained a minimum of 3 A Levels or equivalent with grades BBC (with a minimum of one A Level in numerical or business-related subjects).

At Cooper Parry, we are mindful of candidates who may have extenuating circumstances whilst completing their education and did not meet the minimum academic requirements. We would be open to discuss and explore the pathway that matches you the best and welcome you to apply for the role, but please notify us of your extenuating circumstances that affected your results.

So, we look for people who

  • Have great attention to detail, with a passion for numbers and a knack for following processes
  • Possess great communication skills, can build rapport and are comfortable approaching clients
  • Ask questions and deliver a brilliant client experience
  • Can adapt to changing priorities and work in different teams
  • Able to multitask - processing data, chasing information and prioritising your own workload
  • Play all in to support the wider team
  • Are excited about Tax and driven to succeed in the role and qualification

About the day to day

  • Providing great advice on share schemes to help our clients incentivise their teams
  • Supporting clients with venture capital schemes to help them grow
  • Keeping our clients on track with compliance reporting
  • Researching and analysing technical areas of tax to support the team
  • Generating new ideas, solutions and spotting opportunities to enhance our client offering
  • Keeping up to date with changes to legislation and the impact they may have on our clients

Alongside the day-to-day, you will also study for your ACA/CTA or ATT/CTA Qualification through attending college courses and on the job training.

The pathway to qualification takes around 3 years if you’re a Graduate - or 4 years as a School Leaver – and you’ll be supported along the way by your colleagues, Managers and our dedicated Student Support Manager.
