About the programme
The Rathbones Summer Internship Programme is designed for students in the penultimate year of university study, whether undergraduate, master’s or PhD, who want experience in technology and data within a leading UK wealth manager.
The programme is open to students from all degree disciplines. We are interested in capable, curious people who want to learn quickly, contribute to real work, and explore how technology is changing financial services.
What you will do
Interns will join live teams across Technology & Data and contribute to real projects.
Typical work may include:

Supporting data analysis, reporting and process improvement initiatives

Assisting with coding, automation and AI-related tasks
-
Collaborating on dashboards, prototypes, or internal tools
-
Helping document requirements, analyse business problems and prepare outputs for stakeholders
-
Gaining exposure to how technology supports wealth management, client service and operations
Eligibility
To apply, you should be:

In the penultimate year of your undergraduate, master’s or PhD studies
-
Be on track for, or have achieved a 2.1 in your undergraduate degree
-
Available to work full-time for the duration of the internship
-
Able to work 5 days per week in the office

Interested in how technology, data and AI can improve how firms operate and serve clients
Desirable skills and interests
Some experience working with data and coding.
Familiarity with one or more of the following tools or platforms (through study, personal projects, or curiosity) is helpful but not required:

Data & coding: SQL, Python

Analytics & automation: Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, etc.)

Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, Snowflake

Agentic & Generative AI: Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Claude Code

Programme structure
The programme is expected to include:

An initial induction to Rathbones and the team

Placement into a live team for the summer
-
On-the-job learning and support from colleagues
-
A manager or buddy to provide guidance and feedback throughout the programme

Opportunities to meet people across the business

A final presentation or summary of what you worked on
