During the 12-month Industrial Placement Programme - Market Data, you will help to connect the worlds of data and business. If you are successful, you would join the following team:
Market Data
The Fidelity Global Market Data team plays a critical role in enabling the firm’s trading, research, risk management, and investment activities. We manage relationships with key market data vendors, partner with business units to understand their data needs, oversee data contracts and usage, and ensure effective budgeting, financial control, and strategic alignment with the firm’s data and technology initiatives
As an integral part of the global function, we work across regions and business lines to deliver high-quality, cost-effective market data solutions that support the firm’s commercial goals and innovation agenda.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Placement Student to join our Global Market Data team for a 12-month placement. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial data management, vendor engagement, and strategic business support within a global financial institution.
You will assist in day-to-day operations, financial management, and analytical projects that contribute directly to the firm’s data strategy and decision-making processes. This role will give you exposure to multiple areas of the business, working closely with technology, finance, procurement, and front-office teams.
Key Responsibilities

Vendor Engagement: Support the management of relationships with external market data vendors, assisting with renewals, audits, and usage reviews.

Business Partnering: Work with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensuring appropriate sourcing and cost allocation.

Administration & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of market data services, contracts, and entitlements; support regular reporting and documentation tasks.

Budgeting & Financial Control: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking of market data spend; perform variance analysis and help identify cost-saving opportunities.

Strategy Support: Contribute to firm-wide data and technology initiatives, supporting projects that drive innovation, governance, and efficiency in data usage.

Process Improvement: Help streamline internal processes and develop tools or dashboards to improve transparency and reporting.
Skills & Experience
-
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (penultimate year) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, Business, Data Science, or Technology).

Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, comfortable working with colleagues across different departments and regions.

Confident with Excel and other analytical tools; experience with Power BI or similar platforms is a plus.

A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn about financial markets, data management, and technology transformation.

Support is part of our culture, so you’ll have a buddy and a mentor to help you whenever you need. And you’ll join a close-knit early careers community, with plenty of social and networking events to help you find your feet and feel at home.

A genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn about technology is vital, as is a great interest in our work and our industry. Creative thinking and the ability to build and develop relationships with colleagues is important to.

Please note that there are three online assessments which you’ll need to complete by the time the window closes. They take around 40 minutes to complete, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. We’ve worked hard to ensure our process is fast and efficient. That means our application deadline is not about just ‘getting your foot’ in the door by the deadline, you need to apply and pass the online assessments by then too. We process applications on a rolling basis, and therefore an early application is advised.
All assessment centres are expected to take place February/March 2026.
