Autumn 2025 Qualifying Solicitor Programme (QSP) – Training Contract
We’re thrilled to announce our Autumn 2025 Training Contract through our Qualifying Solicitors Programme (QSP), offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring solicitors to launch their careers with our award-winning law firm. You'll gain experience across a range of departments including Medical Negligence, Property, Family, Private Client, and more.
Our QSP combines hands-on practical experience with on-the-job learning, providing a solid foundation to support your journey to becoming a qualified solicitor.
About us
Switalskis is an award-winning law firm listed in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024.
Established in 1993 by Stephen Switalski, we began with a focus on childcare law and criminal law from a single office in Wakefield. Since then, we’ve expanded to 11 locations employing approximately 400 people who provide a wide array of specialist legal services.
A career at Switalskis means being part of a firm that cares and is here for you. We’re progressive, and we never stand still. Last year we were crowned Large Firm of the Year at The Yorkshire Legal Awards and named in the top 50 fastest growing companies in Yorkshire in the Yorkshire Growth Index.
The Role
Over the course of the two-year training contract, you’ll develop both your theoretical and practical legal knowledge. As a Trainee Solicitor, you'll complete at least two seat rotations across various departments, with the chance to get involved in a diverse range of client cases. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues, providing valuable support and managing your own caseload.
As a national firm with offices across Yorkshire, travel may be required during your training, depending on the departments you’re placed in.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for ambitious and progressive individuals to join our progressive firm and help us provide top-notch legal support to our clients.
Essential Criteria:
- You don’t need a law degree, but you must have completed either:
- The Legal Practice Course (LPC) (or Master of Law and Practice, which includes the LPC), or
- Part 1 of the Solicitors Qualification Examination (SQE).
When assessing your suitability, we’ll be looking for the following qualities:
- Ambition and drive
- Solid work ethic
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Reliability
- An excellent academic record
- Ability to work well within a team
- You should be adaptable and open to travelling across Yorkshire, as you could be based in any of our offices, depending on the seat or department.
Next steps
If you're successful, we'll be in touch for a telephone interview during April, with a final in person panel interview in Leeds during the first week of May.
