UNIQplus is a programme designed to support students from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds to explore and prepare for postgraduate study.

UNIQplus aims to provide you with an introduction to postgraduate-level academic study and research, combining skills development, academic preparation and – for participants on the research internship element – an in-person research experience in Oxford. Our intention is that everyone who takes part will gain benefits in terms of building skills, experience and confidence that will enhance both your CV and future postgraduate applications.

There are two options to choose from:

  • A seven-week in-person paid research internship in Oxford that will run from 6 July to 20 August, during which participants will have the chance to experience life as a postgraduate research student at Oxford. You will undertake a research project, attend training skills and information sessions, and have the opportunity to meet and work with our researchers, academic staff and postgraduate students. As well as taking part in academic and social events, including college dinners, you will be provided with free accommodation and a stipend of approximately £3,400.

  • PASS (Postgraduate Applicant Support Scheme) – new for 2026, this online programme will support participants in developing core academic research skills and preparing their application to postgraduate study at the University of Oxford. You will attend a series of evening sessions over four weeks between 27 July and 21 August, as well as receiving support from an Oxford mentor.

We intend to offer up to 130 UNIQplus Research Internships to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements, which include being ordinarily resident in the UK. We particularly encourage applications from talented individuals who would find progressing to postgraduate study a challenge for reasons other than academic ability.

The deadline for applications for both options is 12.00 midday UK time on Wednesday 18 February 2026.
