Wastewater Science Summer Internship (12 weeks)

Welsh Water are looking for 3 individuals to join the Wastewater Assets team to support the team in the day to day tasks associated with meeting the legal and regulatory requirements of discharging wastewater back into the environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are eager to learn and progress their skills whilst completing their degrees, or for those that have completed their degree and wish to gain some paid work experience prior to entering into the wider employment market.

What you’ll do

During this 12-week summer internship, you will have the opportunity to work within an experienced team of scientists and engineers who work across the country to ensure the performance of Wales’ Wastewater Assets. In this role the successful intern will:

• Provide scientific/engineering steer on the operation of Wastewater assets, in order to improve performance
• Perform sample-taking activities
• On-site chemical analysis
• Interpret related data and process calculations

You will receive exposure to:

• A range of wastewater treatment technologies
• The regulatory framework associated with environmental discharges
• The use of basic analytical equipment
• Work closely with Operations
• The processes and procedures in place to safeguard the environment

What you’ll need

You will need to be studying towards, or have completed a degree, in any of the following areas:

• Engineering (any discipline)
• Science (Core disciplines)
• Physical Geography
• Earth Science
• Environmental Science

A full UK driving license, with access to a car, is essential.
