Founded in 1969 as a Silicon Valley Start-up

The AMD journey began with dozens of employees focused on leading-edge semiconductor products. From those modest beginnings, AMD has grown into a global company setting the standard for modern computing through major technological achievements and many important industry firsts along the way.

Today, AMD is the high performance and adaptive computing leader, powering the products and services that define the future of the data center, artificial intelligence, PCs, gaming, communications, and automotive.

Our approach

We are committed to growing diversity, belonging and inclusion (DB&I) in our workforce to help embrace different viewpoints and experiences, foster innovation, challenge the status quo when needed, and drive business performance. To achieve our aspirations, we need a strong culture that reaches across all aspects of our business. That’s why we have set a goal that 70 percent of employees participate in AMD Employee Resource Groups and/or other AMD inclusion initiatives by 2025.2

Additionally, we are committed to increasing the percentage of global female hires in engineering roles and the percentage of under-represented group hires within our U.S. workforce year over year. For 2021, we have made these efforts a component of our company’s strategic metrics and milestones to inform our incentive plan.

At AMD Research, our efforts to build a culture of inclusion expand beyond the company walls. AMD Research members actively participate in a wide range of external-facing activities aimed at enhancing diversity and inclusion throughout the broader research community. These activities include supporting early-year graduate students, fostering the careers of women and under-represented minorities, and promoting a welcoming and inclusive experience at the conferences we attend.
