If you’re in your first or penultimate year, and want to gain insight and build skills, we offer three-month summer internships and twelve-month industrial placements across our business. You’ll receive on-the-job training within a structured framework, where you’ll develop technical expertise and professional skills such as commercial awareness and problem solving. You can choose between a range of engineering disciplines as well as business roles including project management, finance and consulting. And best of all, if successful on your internship, you could end up fast-tracked onto a Graduate programme the following year.
With graduate opportunities nationwide, joining a BAE Systems programme means you’ll learning through valuable hands-on experience and formal training – developing a career, from day one. Upon completing your graduate programme, and if you demonstrate the passion and potential to lead, you could even find yourself on BAE Systems’ Future Talent Programme, helping us to meet our most significant business challenges.

Equality and diversity
Our ambition is to be recognised as the leading employer in the defence and security sectors for valuing diversity and inclusion.
- Ensuring that women make up at least 50% of our Executive Committee by 2030.
- In the UK and by 2030 at the latest, our ambition is that more than 30% of our workforce will be women. This includes more women in senior grades and in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths roles.
- Increasing representation of race, ethnicity and gender in our workforce and across all our localities.
Our Company Behaviours, launched in 2019, build on our organisational strengths and focus us, individually and collectively, on the characteristics that will underpin our success into the future. They define the way we want to work – with each other and with our partners and customers – and are key to creating an inclusive culture in which everyone can thrive.
Increasing the diversity of our workforce and building diversity and inclusion into our processes, practices, policies, systems and training remains an area of strategic focus for the organisation. We have clear, common objectives focused on attracting and retaining a diverse workforce that reflects market availability at all levels of the organisation, and advancing an inclusive workplace where employees feel that their differences are valued.
Coronavirus update - early careers recruitment
In line with the UK Government’s developing guidance for the Covid-19 pandemic and in support of social distancing, we have been reviewing the management of our recruitment activity. We will continue to keep this under constant review.
In order to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone, we will now be conducting interviews remotely. Candidates will be contacted by their recruitment advisor to make these arrangements. If you subsequently require any adjustments to the interview process described to you please raise this with your recruitment advisor.
Start dates and on-boarding arrangements may also change and your recruitment advisor will inform you of any relevant changes.
