Who we are
Our tailored service and Simply Better Advice have enabled us to forge lasting, intelligent and trusting partnerships with our clients. These long-standing relationships are our most important and most closely protected asset. From private landowners to local authorities, pension funds to farmers – our universe of client experience is among the most varied in UK property.
We employ the very best people. We are a place where people want to work, and our culture is both collaborative and business minded. We have experts in every field who deliver long term advice that enhances our clients’ future prosperity.
Ahead of the curve, we are pioneering in the use of technology within the property industry, making Carter Jonas a hugely exciting place to work for graduates looking to embark on an exciting career in property.
Applications for our 2024 Graduate and student placements will open beginning of October and must be completed online via our career’s website – applications will close mid-November (please check our website as graduate schemes can vary).
Apply online by completing and submitting an online application form. Here you can tell us about your academic background, motivations for a career in property, work experience and share your hobbies and interests with us.
If you are shortlisted for interview, you will either be invited to attend an assessment centre at our London HQ office, One Chapel Place or at one of our regional hubs. Assessment centres will typically take place in December and January. The days are relaxed and welcoming. We want you to feel comfortable and get to know us during the process.
It is likely you will be asked to present and complete a group exercise as part of the assessment, in addition to your interview.
You may be offered a follow up interview in the office of your chosen role.
This year we are recruiting for Rural, Infrastructures and Building Surveying student placements. These placements last for 12 months, as part of a four-year course and applications are live now with interviews taking place in December & January. This is typically a one round interview process at the office in which the placement will take place in.
We also offer excellent Internship programmes! In the spring 2024 we will be running a one-week Virtual Internship aimed at first year students studying non-cognate degrees, offering a great insight into working in a property partnership. In summer 2024 we will host our 4 week in-person Internship based within our hub offices, which is a perfect way to gain first-hand experience of the work we do within our divisions. Applications for our internships open in January!
APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) Training
The APC is a structured training and assessment program that aspiring chartered surveyors undergo to demonstrate their competence in various areas of the property profession.
Candidates typically undergo a structured training period where they work on projects and tasks that align with the defined competencies. This involves on-the-job learning, guidance from mentors, and attending training sessions or courses.
We organise two APC events, one in September and one in March the following year for graduates soon to be taking their APC exams.
A fantastic opportunity for all our graduates to come together to develop technical skills, prepare for APC assessments and develop their knowledge across their chosen areas of specialism. Of course, all their hard work will be rewarded with some dinner and socialising fun!

Diversity and inclusion is a key focus to remain competitive and we are committed to improving cultural balance within our firm. This is underpinned by our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy along with our core values, chosen by our employees: Approachable, Effective and Ambitious.
We recognise that in this competitive employment market, a workplace culture that is inclusive fosters an environment that increases productivity, performance, employee satisfaction and wellbeing. In order to drive true change at Carter Jonas, our business leaders will build upon our EDI policies, sharing and evolving best practice across recruitment, training and development, reward and recognition of all employees. We aim to attract, engage and retain the best partners and employees to achieve our business objectives, and the ambitions of our people.
We actively engage with Changing the Face of Property which draws together industry partners to drive forward diversity initiatives and change from the top. To encourage diversity at entry level, we support apprenticeships and appreciate the benefit in ensuring people from all backgrounds can find a route into our industry. We have a strong Carter Jonas School Ambassador network to raise the profile of a career in surveying to those with less advantageous socio / economic backgrounds, compared to the more traditional talent pipelines into property.
