We’re looking for a forward-thinking and proactive individual to join our Chartered Surveying Apprenticeship Programme and help grow our ever-expanding rural team based in Shrewsbury. This apprenticeship programme provides a fantastic opportunity to gain a bachelor’s degree with one of our trusted providers, while working towards your APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) to become a Chartered Surveyor.

Over five years, you’ll split your time between studying and hands-on work. You’ll receive 7.5 hours of dedicated study time each week (equivalent to one day), with the remaining four days spent contributing to exciting, real-world projects as part of your day-to-day tasks. In your third year, you’ll join our APC Training Academy with the aim of qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor by the end of the programme.

We also welcome applications from gradutes looking to pursue a career in rural surveying.

Main tasks

Our dedicated team of rural surveyors provide advice to landowners and farmers on unlocking the value of their assets, diversification, change of land use, rural management, rural development, renewables, CPO, leveraging natural capital and bio-diversity opportunities, along with valuing rural assets across the UK.

As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to assist with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Management of rural estates.
  • Assist with valuation advice and property valuations.
  • Assist with the sale, letting and acquisition of farms and parcels of land.
  • Professional consultancy on a wide range of rural and agricultural property matters.
  • Prepare environmental scheme applications and assist with natural capital projects.
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients.
  • Work with experienced team members, supporting the profitability of the profit centre.

Clients are at the heart of what we do, so ensuring you develop and maintain solid relationships with our clients is essential, this includes attending client meetings and preparing communications and reports.

What does it take to be successful?

We are looking for a forward-thinking recent school leaver or graduate with a can-do attitude and good organisational, time management and customer service skills. It is essential that you possess GCSCE Mathematics and English at Grade 4 (or C) and above and a minimum of 96 UCAS tariff points or a minimum of a 2.1 in any degree.
