Who are we
People are shaped by their environment. It’s a basic fact of life. When the places where we live and work are neglected, they hold us back. Through the dedication, expertise and pride of our people – from the frontlines to the leadership – we make places work better every day.
And when places work better, our communities prosper, and society thrives.

At Mitie, we create zero-carbon, technology-enabled places that that are safe, connected, comfortable, responsive and resilient. All backed by data. So that every decision we make delivers. EDI
At Mitie we believe that equality, diversity and inclusion are key to establishing a vibrant, rewarding culture and helping our company grow in a way that benefits our colleagues, business, environment and community. That’s why we always aim to represent the diversity of the communities and customers we serve within our own organisation – bringing a range of experiences, perspectives and skills from the frontline to the boardroom, our in-house teams and even the suppliers we partner with.

Our colleagues come from all walks of life, represent all diversities and over 149 different nationalities. We have colleagues living with disabilities and neurodiversity, those that identify as LGBTQ+, parents, carers, veterans and reservists. And it’s vital that we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of them.
It’s not just about the people who work here though. As a member of Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK), we’re able to ensure our supply chain also promotes diversity and inclusion and that ethnic and minority-owned businesses are given the best opportunities. Similarly, our affiliation with Social Enterprise UK (SEUK) ensures we take every opportunity to spend money with charitable and social enterprises.
Mitie has six diversity networks that make it easy for our colleagues to discuss issues with key decision makers, contribute to new and existing policies and procedures and raise their concerns in a confidential environment.
These include:
- CHORD: Focused on creating an inclusive working environment for colleagues of all races and ethnicities.
- Proud to Be: A network that helps educate, inform and inspire our colleagues to be themselves by promoting an inclusive culture in the workplace, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community.
- Mitie Women Can: Our gender equality network focused on helping women maximise their potential in an equal workplace.
- Parents & Carers: Providing a supportive space and engagement opportunities for parents and carers.
- Mitie Military: For armed forces leavers, veterans and families and friends of the forces.
- Enable: Raising awareness of disability-related topics across the business, while offering support and guidance to our colleagues.

And our ESG commitments and strategies are always evolving, allowing us to explore new technologies and processes that can make a difference to both people and the planet.
From our industry-leading Plan Zero strategy to our registered charity, The Mitie Foundation, we combine cutting-edge innovation with a focus on the environment, people and communities to make continuous improvements to our practices – and the world around us.
As an industry-leader in ESG, our innovative work in this field has seen us recognised with the following accreditations and awards.

From ambition to action: Our FY25 net zero commitment
Launched in 2020, Mitie’s Plan Zero sets a bold five-year path to net zero, targeting 85% EV fleet transition by the end of FY25. We achieved 74%; the 11% shortfall was due to the rapid expansion of Mitie’s fleet, including vehicles for which electric alternatives are not yet commercially or operationally viable. With over 6,000 EVs on the road, our electric fleet is significantly larger than originally envisaged when our targets were set.
Phase one of Plan Zero has now concluded, reflecting progress made through both fleet electrification and procurement of renewable energy. Any residual emissions have been offset with carbon credits. We are establishing a new emissions baseline and Plan Zero 2.0 will guide our next phase with new science-based targets and evolving standards.
Plan Thrive is our commitment to creating lasting and meaningful social value. It’s about creating pathways for sustainable futures – uplifting lives, strengthening communities and building a positive legacy for the people and places we serve.
