We are looking for ambitious students with a background in/knowledge of the sector to join our growing Commercial teams in Oxford on a 3-year Graduate Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career within a fast-paced and highly regarded commercial property team, working with a diverse range of clients, assets and projects across the UK.

Our Commercial graduate programme is designed to challenge and support you from day one. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of work, developing both your technical expertise and commercial awareness through hands-on experience across key disciplines such as valuation, agency and landlord & tenant. Whether through rotational placements or multidisciplinary team working, you'll be encouraged to take ownership of your development and make a meaningful contribution to client projects.

Commercial property is a dynamic sector where no two days are the same. The work is varied, complex and always client-focused, making it an ideal environment for individuals who thrive on problem-solving, relationship-building and delivering high-quality outcomes. In return, you'll benefit from significant responsibility, exposure to high-profile instructions and the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry's leading professionals.

Alongside practical experience, you'll receive structured APC support, including guidance from dedicated supervisors and counsellors, technical training and access to a network of colleagues committed to helping you achieve chartership.

At Carter Jonas, clients are at the heart of everything we do. From attending meetings and preparing reports to contributing to strategic advice, you'll play an active role in delivering an exceptional client experience while building the skills, confidence and expertise needed for a successful career in commercial property.

Main tasks:

Assisting with a variety of the following:

  • Agency (including leasing/lettings and purchase/sale)

  • Valuation (formal RICS Red Book Valuations to other appraisals)

  • Landlord and Tenant (including rent reviews and lease renewals)

  • Inspection, Measurement and Building Pathology

  • Assisting in the delivery of projects

  • Client interaction including visiting client sites

  • Taking an active role in the development and implementation of efficient, ‘best practice’ internal systems and processes, optimising IT and other resources

  • Implementation of policy as required and ensuring legal compliance on all work carried out

  • Developing your skills, experience and competency to gain chartered status

  • Assisting in the day to day running of the commercial office

What will it take to be successful?

We're looking for proactive, commercially minded graduates who are eager to build a career in commercial property. You'll be naturally curious, forward-thinking and willing to take the initiative, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to a varied workload in a dynamic environment.

Whilst a RICS-accredited degree is advantageous, we welcome applications from graduates of all degree disciplines who can demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in Commercial Surveying. Previous experience gained through placements, internships or work experience within the property sector will help you stand out.

Candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative approach to working with others, and proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite. Given the nature of the role and the need to travel to client sites and properties, a full UK driving licence is essential.

Our promise to you:

We offer a supportive team environment and the opportunity to develop your knowledge of all aspects of development surveying in our offices. Independence and individual responsibility will develop as candidates gain experience throughout the 3-year Graduate Programme.

At Carter Jonas, we're committed to supporting graduates throughout their professional development. Those working towards the APC will benefit from a structured training programme designed to develop the technical knowledge, professional competencies and confidence required to achieve chartership.

Our APC candidates receive support from dedicated counsellors and supervisors, alongside access to workshops and networking opportunities. Candidates also benefit from insights and guidance from recently qualified surveyors, helping them navigate the APC process with confidence.

This collaborative approach ensures candidates are well supported throughout their journey, while gaining exposure to a diverse range of work and experiences that contribute towards their professional development. APC support and funding are available to those undertaking an eligible RICS-accredited pathway.
