As FTI Consulting's Economic and Financial Consulting (EFC) consulting practice, we support our clients as independent experts in managing complex disputes and advise on transformation processes and strategic decisions.

We provide independent valuations of companies, company shares and intangible assets in all situations where an in-depth valuation is required. We assist our clients, courts and arbitral tribunals in resolving disputes in the context of litigation and arbitration or mediation proceedings. Another focus of our work is the valuation of companies and intangible assets in upcoming change processes or in the context of risk management. Our interdisciplinary team includes economists, auditors, valuation experts, MBAs, statisticians and econometrists. We work on versatile and challenging assignments in a wide range of industries – from "old economy" to innovative business models such as NewSpace or AI companies. We work with international law firms, large global corporations, DAX and medium-sized companies, private equity funds and family offices or also work for authorities or the public prosecutor's office.

In the context of a post-M&A dispute in connection with a complex carve-out from a Dutch group, we were instructed to prove the value of a portfolio of intangible assets sold as recoverable.

We were commissioned as experts to determine the market value as part of an intra-group sale of a large patent portfolio from Germany to China.

We advised the management board of a company on how the company can position itself in negotiations with a departing shareholder from a joint venture and what values can be attributed to the shares and contractual agreements.

We were commissioned to quantify the expected damages in an imminent proceeding for a trademark infringement of a well-known consumer goods brand.

We were commissioned to prepare a fairness opinion in the context of an acquisition of a promising biotech company by a private equity fund.

How you can develop

As a consultant, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge in a wide range of economic, valuation and business issues. You will play a central role in our projects to analyse and communicate our results in a clear, concise and structured manner.

We are looking for:

• Very good performance in a university degree with a focus on economics, natural sciences or humanities.
• Up to one year of professional experience in the areas of corporate finance, valuation, transaction consulting or similar (also in the form of internships)
• Very good knowledge of German and English
• High quality and responsibility awareness
• High motivation and enjoyment of working in a collegial, performance-oriented team
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good skills in presenting results as well as a high degree of independence and commitment
• Advanced Excel skills – Knowledge of other relevant analysis software such as Microsoft VBA or statistics packages such as Python, R or Stata is also desirable but not required.
