Graduate Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer
See it differently
You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.
Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.
The Opportunity
Our Mechanical Engineers apply their specialist skills to deliver design and consulting services for the vital infrastructure that makes modern life possible. Our work includes but is not limited to water and wastewater treatment, bio-resources, pumping stations, reservoirs, active flood defences, hydro power, steam generation, industrial manufacturing, nuclear infrastructure and process plants. We design new systems, improve existing asset performance and are actively pursuing more sustainable infrastructure for the societies we live and work within.
Please also be aware, due to the nature of the work in Manchester, applicants for this location must be security clearable.
Our graduates use mechanical engineering principles to solve problems that affect all our lives, such as providing energy, managing waste or treating water. You will work on real projects, designing and learning from experts alongside formal training to support you as you grow into your career. Typical day to day tasks may include designs and calculations, technical reports, building 3D models, mechanical equipment specification, site visits, and a variety of project meetings and workshops.
As you discover more of your own abilities and interests, we work with you to increase your role and expand your capabilities. We encourage our staff to work towards a professional qualification with the IMechE, but throughout your time at Arup, you will always be learning, with support and encouragement from our diverse multidisciplinary teams.
