What you’ll be doing
You’ll get to work across the team giving you the opportunity to widen your skillset and excel in quantity surveying. Along with part time education and internal training throughout the scheme, you’ll upskill yourself in the relevant skills and competencies required for Network Rail.
You will be part of a large central functional team which focus on engineering delivery, with many roles, ranging from pure engineering to project management. We design and influence every part of the railway, including structures, track, traction power, level crossings, signalling and accessibility schemes which are essential to keep our stations moving. Being a multi-disciplinary team means there are great opportunities to be involved across all aspects of design and development of projects, such as Leeds Area Improvement Programme, Lift & Escalator renewals, Access for All schemes, etc. We also work with the Supply Chain, which will require contracts to be tendered and agreed, followed by the ongoing management of their delivery.
Whilst you will be Glasgow office based, there will be opportunity to travel around the country and work with our regionally based teams, getting involved in both regional and national projects.
Who you are matters
All applicants must be working in full-time employment in a role commensurate to the programme of study. Applicants should also have the support of their employer. You will also need at least 96 UCAS points or Scottish Higher BBCC or equivalent.
We’re looking for driven go-getters with the ability to communicate with people of all levels. You should be comfortable working as a team, able to adapt to different situations and can approach problems in a creative way.
What you’ll get out of it
Upon completion of the Level 6 qualification, you’ll have a BSc (Honours) in Construction and Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) and will be able to use your experience to become a fully effective professional with the opportunity to continue learning and developing in a specialist area. This will also provide you with the perfect opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience and progress to the role of a Chartered Surveyor. The course is fully accredited by the RICS and CIOB.
Our apprentices usually go on to secure senior roles within Network Rail. The skills you acquire will support your career development, providing opportunities.
