The role of a Locum Support Worker is a very privileged role, you will provide personal care and support to patients at their most vulnerable times. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide a compassionate, caring and safe environment for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To participate in the day-to-day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment.

  • A good knowledge around different Mental Health disorders is essential for this role in order to ensure you have an understanding of the support our clients require.

  • To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and others whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality.

  • To support service users with the preparation of Meals, Laundry duties, cleaning and social events.

  • To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required.

  • To work as part of a team to provide high quality care.

  • Transitioning clients from secure settings to our supported living services and independent living

  • To observe, monitor and record clients physical and emotional wellbeing, and report any changes/concerns

  • The ability to work on your own when and where needed

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working in a similar role as a Support Worker

  • Can support those with Mental health/learning disabilities to lead enjoyable and meaningful lives full of potential and possibility

  • Are empathetic and passionate about creating a just society where people with Mental health/learning disabilities can achieve independence and self-reliance to best of their abilities.

  • Can work on a rota basis

  • Take pride in their and recognise the importance of accurate record keeping, effective risk management and teamwork

  • Will listen and learn how to communicate with people in a way that works for them.

  • Can support others to be their best selves.

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to understand health and safety matters in the workplace and to take responsibility for the safety and security of service user (s) while on duty.

  • A practical approach to problem solving and the ability to respond calmly in an emergency or crisis situation with efficiency and professionalism.

  • Good written and verbal skills.

  • Ability to deliver excellent service to vulnerable adults in a dignified manne

  • Willingness to undertake cleaning duties

  • Committed to good personnel practice, including excellent time management skills and a satisfactory attendance record.

  • Willingness to attend meetings and training on occasions, outside normal working hours.

  • Confidence to deal with service user (s) that may act in an unpredictable manner.

  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and to relate positively to people from diverse backgrounds / cultures and a commitment to issues of Equality of Opportunity and Managing Diversity.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Level 3 in Mental Health (Essential)

  • Some experience within a Mental Health role and industry (Essential)

  • Working with similar clients with diagnosis of Mental Health, Learning Difficulties and Substance Misuse (Essential)
