Location: Oxford OX1 1XX (hybrid options available)
Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), starting as soon as possible, for an initial six months
Pay: £14.50/hour
Water is one of the defining challenges of the century, and it is climbing the global agenda fast. Global Water Intelligence is where the sector turns to make sense of it. For more than two decades our analysts have produced the data, forecasts and judgement that water businesses, utilities, investors and governments rely on, across GWI Executive, WaterData, DesalData, the Global Water Summit and UltraFacility.
Marketing sits at the centre of this. It is how we turn deep expertise into messages our customers act on. We are a small, sharp team in central Oxford, getting to grips with what AI means for our business. We are looking for two interns to get stuck in alongside us and help shape what comes next. The messages you help craft will land in front of the people shaping the world’s water decisions – from the utilities supplying whole cities to the investors and governments funding them.
Why marketing matters here
At its heart, marketing is business strategy – determining what customers value, communicating it clearly, and building the trust that makes them choose us. We work hard to put the right message in front of the right people, in language that carries our voice – because we have no interest in wasting our customers’ time, or our own. If you are drawn to the power of words, to what makes a message land, and to understanding why customers really buy, you will be in good company.
The role
We have real marketing projects underway and need curious, driven people to help us deliver them. You can expect to be involved in:
- Cross-channel campaigns, from social and email to traditional channels like direct mail
- Creating content and assets that make our value clear and unmistakably ours
- Researching our audience and market, and acting on what you find
- Sharpening our messaging – the words, the voice, the argument
- Helping launch and develop new products
We use AI to work faster and smarter, and you will be encouraged to make the most of it – but the heart of the job is learning the craft, understanding our customers, and producing work we are proud of.
What we are looking for
We care more about how you think, and how fast you learn, than about what is on your CV. We would love to hear from you if you are:
- A recent graduate with a strong academic record and genuine curiosity
- A clear writer and a clear thinker
- More interested in customer psychology and how markets work than in marketing theory
- Inquisitive – keen to understand our products, customers and market in depth
- A resourceful self-starter, at ease with ambiguity
- Open to new tools and new ways of working, including AI
- Someone who asks why, then asks what next
What you will gain
- Real experience marketing in a B2B context
- A feel for what makes writing clear, persuasive and worth someone’s time
- A front-row view of how an information business evolves with AI
- A genuine understanding of how water is rising up the climate and geopolitical agenda, and what it means for the sector
- Broad involvement, real responsibility and regular feedback – and potential future employment for exceptional performers
