Job Introduction

Repton Prep is an ideal setting for aspiring teachers to gain experience in a boarding school environment. This role offers a comprehensive opportunity to engage with all aspects of school life and contribute to teaching and learning, as well as the pastoral development of our pupils.

Modern Foreign Languages at Repton Prep

We teach French from Year 1, introduce Latin in Year 6, and Spanish from Year 7. Our MFL department is a vibrant, collaborative environment with a strong focus on practical and spoken language lessons, supported by a dedicated Language Lab.

Key Responsibilities

• Support MFL lessons across year groups and observe experienced teachers in the classroom.
• Provide one-to-one additional sessions for pupils who need extension work or catch-up/foundation support.
• Run after-school language clubs and workshops to enrich pupils’ language learning.
• As the year progresses, take small groups, offer additional sessions, and provide lesson cover as required.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including the boarding community.

Through this role, you will develop the foundational skills needed to become an effective classroom practitioner.

Professional Development and Collaboration

There are opportunities to explore your interests and gain further experience within our Drama, Art, DT, and Music departments. You will collaborate with a team of three MFL teaching staff who will support your professional growth.

About Repton School

Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia. The School, founded in 1557 from a bequest by Sir John Port of Etwall, is established on the site of a 7th-century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and later a 12th-century Augustinian priory, and today incorporates many original buildings.
