Main Purpose and Scope of the Internship

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ecological restoration and biodiversity enhancement across operational sites. As a Restoration and Ecology Intern, you will support the Lead and Assistant Restoration & Ecology Managers in delivering environmental projects, while developing practical skills in ecological monitoring, health and safety, contract support, and planning compliance.

You will contribute to:

  • Ecological mitigation and habitat restoration activities

  • Contractor liaison and documentation review

  • Data collection and reporting for planning and environmental compliance

  • Budget tracking and procurement support

  • Engagement with internal teams and external stakeholders

This is a developmental role designed to provide exposure to real-world restoration and ecology work, with mentoring and structured training provided throughout the placement.

Position Within Organisation

Reports to: Lead Restoration & Ecology Manager

Responsible for: Supporting restoration and ecology activities

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

  • Learn and apply company SHEQ policies and procedures

  • Assist with risk assessments and environmental impact reviews

  • Support documentation and reporting of incidents and near-misses

  • Promote safe working practices and environmental awareness

Operational Support

  • Assist in managing landscape and ecological contracts under supervision

  • Review contractor documentation and qualifications

  • Support ecological mitigation schemes and monitoring activities

  • Contribute to wildlife protection planning and habitat restoration scheduling

  • Help prepare reports for planning authorities and internal teams

  • Participate in site visits and assist with updating restoration drawings and plans

  • Engage with stakeholders to promote best practices in restoration and biodiversity
