We are looking for an enthusiastic Quality New Product Introduction student to join our team specializing in Quality for our Genset Business Unit in Daventry. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential! This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence on the summer of 2026. This placement is on site
External Qualifications and Competencies
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Working under the guidance of the NPI coordinator, the student will be involved with the introduction of new, unique and upgraded parts and products within the plant
- Involved with all other departments at the plant to gain good knowledge and understanding of a global multinational organization
- Collaborating with external business functions to understand the entire new part introduction process from initial engineering design through to full production implementation, including support during infant care and build of the end product
- Attend design review meetings as well as complete engineering design reviews for NPI department
- Create and manage production process documentation as well as record & update issues on the database
- Support New Product Introduction engineering builds through the manufacturing process as well as organise and lead meeting with various stakeholders
Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- We are looking for a wide range of applicants studying towards a bachelor’s degree from across all engineering / Supply chain or other related subjects (not graduating this academic year).
- Good PC literacy – a knowledge of 3D modelling software (Solid works/Creo/Fusion 360 etc.) and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Practical approach to support technical innovation, be able to recommend improvements, ability to manage own projects.
- Attention to detail, analytical skills, communication skills (verbal and written), time management and prioritisation skills, proactive attitude.
- Has experience in, and can demonstrate, relevant examples of Cummins core values e.g. voluntary work, community involvement activities, working with disadvantaged groups, charity related support, delivering superior results, teamwork, good communication, competencies, and outside education experiences
