Centre for Doctoral Education (CDE)

The Centre for Doctoral Education undertakes research to inform, challenge and develop doctoral education internationally. Our work explores the experiences, practices and achievements of doctoral students, supervisors and early career researchers. We draw on this expertise to offer doctoral programmes within our institution, supporting the largest concentration of doctoral students studying education and related social sciences in the UK.

About the Role

The Post Graduate Teaching Assistant will facilitate sessions for doctoral students that form part of IOE’s research training programme. Activities may include:

  • IOE MPhil/PhD Core Course
  • Post-upgrade workshop
  • Qualitative Data Analysis
  • Quantitative Data Analysis Courses
  • IOE Doctoral Community student-led engagement scheme
  • IOE CDE Poster Conference, Summer School, Conference, and 3 Minute Thesis Competition

Appointment Details

These posts are available from 22 September 2025 to 31 July 2026 and are open to current UCL students who are post-upgrade or post-IFS only.

About You

  • Educated to Master’s degree level (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
  • Currently working towards a PhD in a social sciences subject. (On completion of the PhD, you will no longer be eligible to participate in this PGTA scheme.)
  • Interest in relevant methodological issues and the ability to provide constructive suggestions on student proposals.
