Job Purpose

The PC&L Student’s role is to support the PC&L function on a day-to-day basis whilst using the knowledge and experience gained to contribute to the student’s degree qualification. At the end of the placement, a student will be making a solid contribution and have a good business understanding of Supply Chain Management for a Manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production control of customer orders through the manufacturing process
  • Learn to work with suppliers and component schedules
  • Learn some complex Excel reports to gain strong spreadsheet knowledge
  • Work on process flow improvements
  • Learn all aspects of production control and planning from supplier to customer
  • Workplace organisation improvements
  • Support the PC&L function with any other duties as required

  • Good PC Skills, MS Office
  • Able to effectively work and communicate with people at all levels
  • Ability to work and learn in a fast moving and changing environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required

Experience & Qualifications

  • This placement will be undertaken as part of a university degree course. The student will be studying towards a degree in a business-related discipline.
  • A Level education
  • Previous work experience is beneficial
  • Good communication skills and team working

Additional Information

This job description outlines the duties required; it is not a comprehensive or exhaustive list, and the Line Manager may vary duties from time to time which do not change the general character of the job, or the level of responsibility entailed. Flexibility is required from all job holders.

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week: Monday 7.30am - 4.00pm, Tuesday to Thursday 7.30am to 3.30pm, Friday 7.30am - 2.30pm, 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break.

Holiday: In addition to statutory holiday, students receive 21 days paid holiday in a full 12-month calendar period, pro-rata for shorter periods.

Annual Salary: £23,492.04

Duration: 12 months
