DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP

The degree apprenticeship with Glasgow Caledonian University is a 4-year course in which you will study part-time (day release) alongside your full-time role. You will cover many modules such as Computer System Fundamentals, Object Orientated Analysis & Design, Information Security and DevOps. The degree includes a final stage project in conjunction with Capgemini’s business.

YOUR ROLE

As an Applications Consultant degree apprentice, you will be combining your full-time role and part-time study for a Software Development Degree with our partner University. Working within Application Development and Maintenance (ADM) across a huge spectrum of challenges, you will provide IT consultancy expertise that will transform how our clients conduct their day-to-day business. You will support live systems and applications and be expected to be able to assist Capgemini’s clients with answering queries, resolving issues and incidents in accordance with agreed SLAs and providing best practice where required. You may also be expected to work on requests for changes and enhancements always seeking to exceed client expectations.

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to work from your base location up to two to three days per week. Additional travel to client sites may be required, depending on project needs.

YOUR PROFILE

To be eligible, you need:

  • To be living and working in Scotland.
  • BBCC or equivalent including Higher in Maths, Application of Maths or Computing or
  • Foundation Apprenticeship - We accept selected Foundation Apprenticeships, in combination with SQA Highers, for entry to our degree programmes. Your Foundation Apprenticeship will take the place of one SQA Higher qualification for our standard entry requirements and will be treated as equivalent to a B grade at Higher or
  • Modern Apprenticeship - If you have completed a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF level 6 in a relevant discipline this would be equivalent to two Highers at B or
  • Recognised of Prior Learning (RPL) - For applicants with prior work experience and professional qualifications, there is a possibility to be considered through the university’s adaptable entry system through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This process allows prospective graduate apprentices to claim credit(s) against previously assessed and certificated learning, including informal learning, to be considered and recognised for academic purposes and credit within their course. Advanced entry may also be granted through RPL. Skills, knowledge, academic qualifications and experience will all be used to inform which year of the degree you will enter into.

YOUR SECURITY CLEARANCE

To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
