Tax Specialist Programme
Are you ready to become a highly skilled tax professional?
Tax is at the heart of our nation’s financial foundation. As part of HMRC’s Tax Specialist Programme (TSP), you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the government can fund essential services like hospitals, schools, and transport.
From day one, you’ll take on professional responsibility, working with customers ranging from those seeking help to those deliberately avoiding tax. You’ll investigate complex cases, resolve disputes, and contribute to a fair and effective tax system. This will include raising assessments, reaching settlements, issuing repayments, and charging interest and penalties on any unpaid tax.
What you’ll do

Manage your own portfolio of tax compliance casework whilst juggling competing demands
-
Lead conversations with individuals, businesses and professional advisors to challenge assertions in person, by phone and video call.

Tackle fraud, tax avoidance, and high-profile investigations
-
Interpret and apply complex legislation and established case law
Specialise in a specific tax regime after promotion (e.g. VAT, Corporation Tax) -
Develop leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills
