Training Contract

We offer a Direct Training Contract route, primarily designed for those who are unable to complete a Summer Vacation Scheme with us. This is part of our commitment to ensuring equal access to opportunities, as we recognise that not all applicants will be able to attend an in-person Scheme.

The two-year Training Contract comprises six four-month seats (in a mix of contentious and transactional practice areas), with regular appraisal meetings to discuss your progress. You will have the opportunity to gain a wide breadth of experience within our global sectors: Technology & Innovation, Energy & Infrastructure, Finance, and Life Sciences & Healthtech.

As a Trainee, you will be assigned a dedicated mentor and buddy to support you during your Training Contract. Your Supervisors and the Training Principal will also provide guidance and assist your development at the firm. At Orrick, we typically work in small teams which allows you to gain more exposure to Partners and clients, which in turn helps to augment your learning.
