We are looking for an enthusiastic Catalyst Performance & Integration Placement Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Emissions Solutions Business Segment in Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence on Summer 2026.
External Qualifications and Competencies
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Support the Cummins Value Package Introduction (VPI) process, which is used to bring new engine and aftertreatment systems to market. Work as part of a team to complete activities such as catalyst selection, performance evaluation, mapping and proof-of-concept testing, and data analysis. (The exact scope of activities will depend on the stage of the development cycle during your placement.)

Support the procurement and shipment of parts between different test facilities.

Collaborate with the Test Operations function to produce test instructions for test programs. Analyze test cell data to evaluate performance across various test types and scenarios.

Participate in cross-functional design reviews for catalyst hardware. This includes contributing to review materials, such as requirements definitions and test results, and attending review meetings.

Support simulation activities to evaluate catalyst performance using software such as AVL BOOST/Cruise, Simulink, and MATLAB.
Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position
To be successful in this role you will need the following:

We are looking for applicants pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry or other STEM-related fields.

Good knowledge of MATLAB and MS Office (Excel and Word) is required.

A methodical, data-driven approach to problem-solving, great teamwork abilities, and effective communication skills are essential.

Knowledge of diesel engines and/or aftertreatment architecture is an advantage but not essential (training will be provided).
