Big night ahead at TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards
Graduate recruitment is big business. Every year employers around the UK spend thousands of pounds to make sure they recruit the best, most talented students into their businesses. Endless time and thought goes into creating the best campus campaigns and attending campus events, and every year we get together to celebrate the employers who have done it best.
Tonight is the night when after a year of battling it out, employers gather to be rewarded for their efforts at our annual TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment awards at the Grosvenor House hotel in London. This ceremony is like the Baftas for the recruitment industry, we like to think. These are the award categories:
- The Sector awards
- The Student Panel awards
- The Rising Star award
- The AGCAS award
And the most coveted prize of all, the Graduate Employer of the Year award – as voted for by you.

The ceremony celebrates apprenticeships as well as graduate recruitment, with awards up for grabs for the apprentice of the year and for the best apprenticeship or school-leaver programme.
How do we decide who wins the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards?
Every year we ask thousands of students to take part in the trendence Graduate Barometer survey. (Remember the long survey we asked you to complete at the beginning of the year?) This gives you a chance to select your industry of choice and your favourite employers, and lets us know what you like and dislike about them. And if you are lucky there are some hefty cash prize rewards for taking part.
Around springtime we also invite a group of students to the headquarters of our media partners, The Guardian, and ask them to judge employers based on their campus marketing campaigns. All this information is used to identify the best graduate employers of the year.
And to thank students for taking part and giving us their time and opinions, a select few are invited to the awards ceremony. Guests last year were treated to live music, a great atmosphere and a fantastic host, fresh from the river Thames – David Walliams. What has this year got in store for us?
And even more importantly, who will take the crown of Graduate Employer of the Year? Who will be the most popular graduate recruiter in engineering? And who will be presenting these awards?
Find out here tomorrow morning and on our Twitter channel @targetjobsuk.
