Meet Miriam and find out about her time at Skanska

When researching companies and grad programmes to embark my career, Skanska was one that stood out to me the most. They were amongst the top 10 Contractors in the UK, placed heavy value on it's people, and took pride in its involvement in other sustainability areas - inclusion, diversity, community investment and the environment.

I particularly liked that their 2-year grad programme was well structured, and provided for wholesome development, not just as a QS. The training received tackled different areas - ranging from commercial and financial to learning about the concept of zero carbon and strengthening my Microsoft Excel skills.

I had the opportunity to visit colleges and speak in career fairs, travel to the National Construction College in Norfolk for some insightful training sessions on construction technology, get involved in group projects which took me around London, and form connections with some pretty amazing professionals in the field!

I started off in Newport, Wales and now I am in London working on HS2 as a QS. Regardless of where I am in the business, Skanska has underscored the importance of its caring for life, inclusion and diversity, and stood firm in carrying out their business with these values at the forefront. Working for a company that lives its values, makes it just much more fulfilling.
