Tori

Corporate Banking Graduate

Deutsche Bank

Tori is growing in more ways than she imagined

As a graduate in economics and finance, Tori was fascinated to learn that people at the bank come from a range of backgrounds and it’s the breadth of skills and perspectives that makes the organisation, and the individuals that work here, thrive.

“My colleagues have studied many different subjects - computer science, law, languages. Deutsche Bank is very inclusive and really knows how to match your skills with the right role. It’s a win-win for you and for the bank.”

Rotations and relationships

Tori’s Graduate Programme in the Corporate Bank led her to experience a number of rotations which helped her identify where she could best develop her skills. Now in her third rotation, she’s been able to drive a Trade Finance project. The complexity of the work means that a number of stakeholders are involved and Tori’s role is to build relationships with those people and bring them together. “We get everyone’s input, documents get redrafted, and we move forward. This experience has really highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration, deadlines are often tight, and it is the efficient way we work together as a team that we get the job done on time.”

Tori, who describes herself as a bit of an extrovert, enjoys the collaborative aspects of working at Deutsche Bank. Her outgoing nature coupled by the bank’s open culture enable her to easily connect with and learn from new people.

“I love talking to people and the collaborative culture here certainly gives me a lot of opportunities to build my network. It’s also really inclusive too. Colleagues at all levels are very willing to help and support you – they are so patient. There’s a strong sense of belonging, it’s like a family really, everyone is working towards the same goal.”

So many ways to learn

Working alongside talented colleagues is just one of the ways Tori learns new skills. But Tori’s advice is to “be a sponge” and make the most of the opportunities by being curious.

“I want to soak up as much as I can so that I can add value to client relationships and play my part in making Deutsche Bank even stronger. I have already improved in so many ways, my English is better, all the reporting and analysis I have been doing has enhanced my Excel knowledge and perhaps most importantly, I have really developed my communication skills.”
