Typical day-to-day activities, what your role entails within DBS. Any misconception you had about your business area, anything you particularly enjoy etc?

I particularly the opportunities to get to know the wider team in office and learning opportunities for areas outside my direct line of work. My day-to-day activities include envisioning the future strategy for global operations and being a part of the decisions for how we will get there as a bank which is exciting!

What surprised you about Sheffield and the office? Are you local to the area originally or have you moved here from somewhere else?

I originally moved from Manchester to Sheffield (not too far), but I have found that Sheffield has a nice balance of city and countryside with the Peak District around the corner.

What are your colleagues and culture like within Grosvenor House, Sheffield? Are you involved in any Employee Resource Groups?

The Sheffield office is great with the ‘grad zone’, there is a nice community of graduates, who all organise events, so it is great for making friends, especially in a new place. I am involved in the ‘Balance’ Employee Resource Group which is a community to raise awareness and promote gender equality.

What tips/encouragement would you give to anyone considering a similar pathway to yours?

Do it! Even if you don’t know exactly what you want to do, there is opportunities and support to explore a variety of pathways to shape your career.
