Why I Chose Mitie
The programme gives you the chance to explore different areas, develop valuable skills, and apply what you’ve learned to real-world challenges. That flexibility, combined with the opportunity to gain first hand experience across diverse teams without pigeonholing myself, made Mitie the perfect place to build a strong foundation for my career.

Experience So Far
I’m currently halfway through my first rotation with the PPS (Professional Project Services) team on the BAE contract. We function as an extension of BAE’s delivery team, supporting their facilities management projects. My role is varied – I get involved wherever I can, from helping on projects to learning the ropes of project management. It’s been a pleasant surprise because project management wasn’t something I had considered before, but I’m really enjoying it and could see myself pursuing it further.

One Thing That Surprised Me
How friendly everyone is! Whether it’s a smile in the corridor or colleagues taking time to explain something, the culture here is incredibly welcoming. People genuinely want to help, and that makes it easy to learn and build connections. Networking opportunities are everywhere, and every interaction has helped deepen my understanding of the business.

Advice for Future Graduates
Seize the opportunity. Get involved, ask questions, and embrace the variety the scheme offers – it’s the best way to discover what suits you. Each rotation gives you exposure to different environments and skills that will set you up for a successful career. Be curious and take initiative; the more you put in, the more you’ll get out.
