UK 300: top media and advertising employers

…as voted for by students and graduates

The UK 300 features the largest and most comprehensive annual survey of student opinion on graduate careers, employers and their own job hunts. The survey determines not only the most popular 300 graduate employers in the UK overall, but also the most popular graduate employers in a range of career sectors, including media and advertising.

The top graduate employers for careers in the media and advertising are listed in the table below, and there are a number of changes this year. For example, the BBC moves up one to take the top spot, Channel 4 climbs eight places to take the second spot, and there are three new entrants.

The students and graduates surveyed who were interested in media and advertising careers:

  • didn’t appear to be motivated by money: only 18% considered a ‘high starting salary’ to be a very important factor when choosing an employer, versus a 25% average.
  • were less likely than average to have completed an internship by the time of their final year – 41% of finalists had versus a 46% average – but were more likely to have undertaken voluntary/charity work, with 59% of finalists having done so, versus a 53% average.
  • were slightly less likely than average to use LinkedIn for careers purposes (77% versus a 79% average across all sectors) but more likely than average to use Twitter (24% versus a 19% average).

Percentages have been rounded.

Over 74,700 students and graduates took part in the Trendence UK Graduate Survey, which formed the basis of the results in the UK 300.
