Public sector

The public sector includes employers that work directly with the public, such as teachers and police officers, and those who work behind the scenes, such as people who work for local and central government, the Civil Service and the security services.

The most popular employers show the diversity of the organisations in the public sector: from the three intelligence services, to national government, to local government, to healthcare, to teaching. Lower down there are further changes, with the British Council, Teach First and the graduate programme for local authorities all swapping places. HM Revenue & Customs rounds out the top ten as a new entrant.
