How did you find the assessment centre?

I enjoyed the experience at the assessment centre. Unlike other graduate schemes, this one felt more hands-on, as opposed to a number of online assessments.

When I went to the assessment centre at the bet365 stadium, it gave me a better opportunity to present myself and meet the team here at bet365. The team were very accommodating. I worked with other applicants and enjoyed meetings with managers and had the opportunity to present to them. I feel this process really helped me give the best representation of myself to the business.

How did you find relocating to the area and the support you received?

Relocating was obviously a big part of taking the job to me and bet365 made it so simple. Being given the opportunity to live in their accommodation rent free gave me plenty of time to settle in and find a place of my own. I also got to move into a house with some other graduates and a few other members of staff who had relocated. This helped me settle into Stoke and I was able to find new housemates for when I did leave the company accommodation. There were also other graduates who moved into their own place and still got an allowance from bet365 to pay for their rent as they settled in. It's a part of the graduate scheme that really helps in your first few months, especially if it's a new place for you.

What was your favourite part of the graduate scheme?

A big part of the graduate scheme comes in your rotation around the business. Being able to see all the departments is certainly a great help. However, for me the best part of the graduate scheme was working with a mentor. Having more senior people to guide you through the process really helped me in setting my goals and getting comfortable in the business. From the start to the finish of my rotation period, I was able to book in meetings and get advice from a senior manager and I found that to be really valuable.

Did you know what area of the operations you wanted to work within?

I didn't come into the business with my heart set on one department, however, compliance was definitely an area I was interested in. Because I took politics as part of my degree, working with legislation and looking into licensing, it was something that piqued my interest. Thankfully, I have now got the opportunity to work in this department.

How do you feel about your future with bet365?

I am definitely excited to get going in my new department. Having been involved across all operations teams, I have been able to see how each and every department interact with each other and how important each role is in running the company. I think the AML team is a great place to start. Having been around the company, you also get to see how much progression and opportunities there are within the business. When you get to speak to management across the departments, you see how many routes you can take at bet365. The fact is, no matter where you start in the company, there are a number of brilliant opportunities. Whether that be through the graduate scheme or as an advisor, everyone has a chance to progress.

What is your biggest achievement so far at bet365?

I would say that reaching my goal of working in AML Compliance is something I am very proud of. To be able to rotate around so many parts of the business and get an offer for the team that I'm very passionate about is a great achievement.

Would you recommend bet365 — if so, why?

I definitely would recommend it. I think the main reason is the opportunity on offer here. I haven't come across anyone that hasn't had the opportunity to move to different departments. The great thing is, bet365 give you plenty of opportunities for career progression and offer you the chance to travel abroad to one of their overseas offices, whether that be one of the operating hubs in Malta and Gibraltar or further afield to Colombia, Brazil or the US.

What tips would you give to somebody applying to bet365?

For anyone that's starting new, I would say to come into the process with an open mind. The opportunity to go on rotation gives you so many opportunities to meet new people across the company. What's more, working in different departments will definitely throw up surprises. Sometimes, the departments you least expect to enjoy turn out to be your favourites, and you may end up working there. From your time as an advisor until you get your job, I would advise to just take it all in and learn as much as possible. Being an advisor and a team leader is really valuable further down the line and a great opportunity to showcase what you are capable of.
