Meet Nikhita - Consultant

My favourite Capgemini value is ‘Team Spirit’.’ This accurately captures how team members, including myself act in their project teams at Capgemini. Work is shared fairly; team members listen to each other and ensure work is delivered in a timely manner. As a graduate working in a team, I have been challenging myself by taking on different responsibilities, this has come from supportive members of my team who can see my potential and push me to go beyond my comfort zone. When there is a potential solution to discuss, all views are heard, and I am able to contribute my views without judgement.

What is your favourite thing about working at Capgemini?

My favourite thing about working at Capgemini is the wide range of projects and clients I have worked for. In my year and half here, I’ve worked across four different projects in various industries. I enjoy getting to grips with how Capgemini is benefitting their clients through particular projects and being a part of that process.

Get The Future You Want is a big part of setting you up for success and encouraging you to take ownership of your development. What opportunities have you had to shape your career at Capgemini?

The biggest opportunity I have had was a part of the Empower Graduate Programme which focuses on the development of soft skills such as resilience, communication, empathy etc. As part of this programme, I attended a High Impact Communication Course, this was a 2 day in person workshop which focused on how to communicate and present effectively to everyone in the room. I found this to be key in developing my presentation and communication skills as well as my confidence, especially as I sit in a client-facing role.

What does a day in the life look like for you?

My day in the life of a functional consultant is varied and usually depends on the phase the project is currently in. For example, during the discovery phase, I will be involved in gathering requirements and understanding pain points in workshops. After that session, I would help to translate these requirements into user stories to be built later in salesforce. Alternatively, I could be in the back end of salesforce setting up configuration for the client’s organisation.

What made you choose a graduate programme?

I picked this graduate programme as it was structured gave me a chance to experience the life of a consultant within a well-established company who specialises in tech consulting.

What advice would you give to students looking to apply to Capgemini?

Capgemini is a great place to start your career, you will be fully supported in the role you choose. It provides plenty of opportunities to develop yourself professionally and personally.

If you are unsure what you want to do as the next step, the graduate programme is a great place to start. There are many roles available across different business units such as Insights and Data or Digital Customer Experience. Working at Capgemini has allowed me to figure out what area I most enjoy working in and create my career path around that.
