Why I Chose MITIE
At my interview everyone was very positive and passionate about their work. The graduate role offered a high level of flexibility, giving me the freedom to shape the experience in a way that suited my interests and career goals. I was also attracted by the wide range of opportunities to try different roles across the business, which made the programme feel both dynamic and supportive.

My Programme Experience
Throughout the programme, I’ve had the opportunity to undertake a variety of roles including tendering, programme/scheduling, and electrical design. I’ve worked on projects ranging from 33kV to 400kV and have been able to engage directly with clients, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers. I’ve also gained experience with industry software such as Microsoft Project, Revit, AutoCAD, and more recently ElectricalOM. The exposure to both technical and commercial aspects of projects has helped me grow significantly in both confidence and capability.

Highlights From My Journey
Some of the highlights for me include visiting project sites at both the early and late stages of delivery, being able to contribute to design and tendering work, and attending industry events such as Solar & Storage. On a lighter note, discovering that there’s a friendly cat at our local Sainsbury’s has been a nice find. Overall, having such a variety of experiences has made the journey both rewarding and enjoyable.

Advice for Future Graduates
Get involved in as much as you can, the amount of experience available is hugely beneficial. The more you explore, the more you’ll discover what you enjoy and where your strengths lie. Take the opportunities, ask questions, and make the most of the support around you.

Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, I aim to progress into a role as a high-voltage electrical engineer and continue developing my technical expertise in this area. I’m also working towards achieving chartership, as I believe professional accreditation will be an important step in shaping a long-term career in the industry. I’m excited to keep learning, take on new challenges, and contribute to projects that make a real impact on the energy sector.
