Christina Kio-Bennett

Senior Design Manager

Skanska UK

I started at Skanska as a Graduate 11 years ago. I still really enjoy what I do. Mostly it's being able to come to a working solution for challenges that involve balancing cost, innovation, social value and environment. I love being able to finish a project that changes and improves the world that we live in and being able to say - I was a part of that. It is a personal favourite of mine to see people take pleasure in new infrastructure and it having the positive impact it was meant to have. From seeing passengers on the Platforms of Paddington Elizabeth line station to walkers crossing a bridge over a discontinued reservoir in Lower Neuadd. Its a real joy.
Women in engineering are essential to having diverse teams which is vital to diversity of thought and interrupting group-think. Finding different ways to engage with your client or thinking about things from a different perspectives is key to ensuring we are seeing the whole picture from as many angles as possible.
