What degree did you complete?

MSc Computer Science at Aston University

What prompted you to apply to the Version 1 Early Careers programme?

I applied for the Version 1 Early Careers Programme because I was very interested in the variety of subjects taught at the Academy. Although I have studied in this area before, there were many technologies and tools that I was not familiar with. Taking part in the programme was fantastic - it helped me strengthen my foundations and gave me a much broader insight into the world of technology.

What was your experience with the Early Careers programme?

My overall experience of the Version 1 Early Careers Programme recruitment process was very positive. It was well organised and professional.

Do you have any tips for someone thinking about applying to the Version 1 Early Careers programme?

My main tip would be to try and be yourself throughout the process. Version 1 values people who are eager to learn, open to new challenges and willing to get involved. Show your passion for technology, even if you don’t know everything yet - the company is very supportive and will teach you what you need to be successful in your role. Also learn about Version 1's core values and share how you identify with them, as they play a big part in the culture here.

Looking back, what qualities and behaviours do you think you displayed during the recruitment stage that made you a standout candidate?

Looking back, I think the most important qualities I showed during the recruitment process were enthusiasm, willingness to learn an open-mindedness. I didn’t pretend to know everything, but I showed that I wanted to develop and take on new challenges. I also answered honestly and sincerely, which I think helped make me a good cultural fit for you. Version 1 values people who are passionate, adaptable and collaborative and I made sure to show these qualities throughout.

What does your role/customer project in Version 1 entail?

I am an Associate Consultant currently working on an internal project at Version 1, gaining hands-on experience with different tools and technologies, collaborating with team members and applying what I learnt in the Academy to real-world tasks. This is a great opportunity to develop my technical skills, understand how Version 1 works internally and prepare for future client projects.

Are you involved in any activities in Version 1 outside of your role?

I recently became getting involved in the Women in Tech group of Version 1 and I helped with the Q2 event which was attended by over 20 staff. It was a really successful event and a great experience to be part of. I’ve also just been appointed Co-Education Lead for the Birmingham office, which I’m really excited about. I’m looking forward to helping organise future training opportunities and getting more involved in supporting others in the business.
